Fuel Rail & Injectors replacing on Ford E series?

The details to replace Fuel Rail (Supply Manifold) & Injectors are as follows: -----


Removal & Installation



4.6L Engine
Specific to:
Ford E-150 2008-2009
Ford E-250 2008-2009
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4. Remove the air intake assembly.
  5. Disconnect fuel supply hose quick connect coupling.
  6. Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) purge valve tube quick connect coupling from the intake manifold.
  7. Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve electrical connector.
  8. Disconnect the EVAP canister-to- EVAP canister purge valve tube quick connect coupling.
  9. Remove the bolt and the EVAP canister purge valve.
  10. Disconnect the quick connect couplings and remove the PCV tube.
  11. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
  12. Remove the fuel rail bolts.
  13. Separate the fuel rail from the fuel injectors and remove the fuel rail.
  14. Remove the fuel injectors from the intake manifold and discard the O-rings.
  15. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Lubricate new O-rings with clean engine oil before installation.

5.4L Engine
Specific to:
Ford E-150 2008-2009
Ford E-250 2008-2009
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Release the latches and remove the engine cover.
  4. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  5. Remove the air intake assembly.
  6. Disconnect fuel supply hose quick connect coupling.
  7. Disconnect the quick connect couplings and remove the PCV tube.
  8. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
  9. Remove the fuel rail bolts.
  10. Separate the fuel rail from the fuel injectors and remove the fuel rail.
  11. Remove the fuel injectors from the intake manifold and discard the O-rings.
  12. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Lubricate new O-rings with clean engine oil before installation.

6.8L Engine
Specific to:
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Release the latches and remove the engine cover.
  4. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  5. Remove the air intake assembly.
  6. Disconnect fuel supply hose quick connect coupling.
  7. Disconnect the transmission wiring harness retainers from the engine wiring harness. Position the transmission wiring harness aside.
  8. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector and the wiring harness retainer.
  9. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
  10. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors.
  11. Disconnect the quick connect couplings and remove the PCV tube.
  12. Disconnect the engine wiring harness retainer from the rear of the intake manifold.
  13. Disconnect the right hand engine wiring harness retainers and position the wiring harness away from the fuel rail.
  14. Disconnect the left hand engine wiring harness retainers and position the wiring harness away from the fuel rail.
    NOTE
    When removing the fuel rail, leave the fuel injectors in the intake manifold to ease removal of the fuel rail.
  15. Remove the bolts, separate the fuel rail from the 10 fuel injectors and remove the fuel rail.
  16. Remove the fuel injectors from the intake manifold and discard the upper and lower fuel injector O-ring seals.
To install:
  1. Lubricate new O-rings with clean engine oil and install the O-rings onto the fuel injectors.
  2. Install the fuel injectors into the intake manifold.
  3. Install the fuel rail onto the fuel injectors and tighten the mounting bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4. Position the engine wiring harness and connect the 3 LH engine wiring harness retainers.
  5. Position the engine wiring harness and connect the 2 RH engine wiring harness retainers.
  6. Connect the engine wiring harness retainer to the rear of the intake manifold.
  7. Position the PCV tube and connect the quick connect couplings.
  8. Connect the ignition coil electrical connectors.
  9. Connect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
  10. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector and wiring harness retainer.
  11. Position the transmission wiring harness and connect harness retainers to the engine wiring harness.
  12. Connect the fuel tube quick connect coupling.
  13. Install the ACL and the ACL outlet tube.
  14. Install the engine cover.
  15. Connect the battery ground cable.
