How to replace Crankshaft Damper on 2009 Ford Taurus?

Crankshaft Damper (Balancer)
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION procedure details are as follows :---


  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt and power steering belt.
  3. Use a strap wrench to hold the crankshaft pulley and remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.
  4. Using a 3-jaw puller, remove the crankshaft pulley.

To install:
  1. Lubricate the front cover and the crankshaft front seal inner lip with clean engine oil.
  2. Lubricate the outside diameter sealing surfaces with clean engine oil.
  3. Using Crankshaft Vibration Damper Installer #303-102, install the crankshaft pulley.

  4. Install the bolt and washer. Using damper installer and seal installer, tool to hold the crankshaft pulley and tighten the bolt in 4 stages:
Stage 1: Tighten to 89 ft. lbs. (120 Nm).
Stage 2: Loosen one full turn.
Stage 3: Tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
Stage 4: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.
  1. Install the accessory drive belt and power steering belt.
