How to Replace Glow Plugs on Ford E series Diesel van?

The details to replace Glow Plugs are as follows: ------


Glow Plugs
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
procedure is mentioned below:-----

There are in total 8 glow plugs.

6.0L Engine
No. 1, 3 & 5 Glow Plugs
Specific to:
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009

NOTE
The No. 1, 3 and 5 glow plugs are accessed through the wheel well.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4. Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
  5. Remove the glow plug.
To install:
  1. Install the glow plug and tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  2. Clean and apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals prior to installation.
  3. Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, install the glow plug harness.
No. 2 Glow Plug
Specific to:
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009

NOTE
Only the No. 2 glow plug is accessed from under the hood.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the pushpin retainers and the upper air deflector.
  4. Remove the 4 power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
  5. Remove the power steering fluid indicator and 3 bolts. Remove the power steering reservoir mounting bracket. Install the power steering fluid indicator and position the power steering reservoir aside.
  6. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe.
  7. Loosen the clamps and remove the ACL outlet pipe.
  8. Disconnect the PCM electrical connectors.
  9. Remove the bolt and PCM.
    WARNING
    Do not pull on the wiring to remove the glow plug connector or damage may occur.


    NOTE
    Only one glow plug connector shown.
  10. Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
  11. Remove the glow plug.
To install:
  1. Install the glow plug and tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  2. Clean and apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals prior to installation.
  3. Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, install the glow plug harness.
  4. Install the PCM and tighten the bolt to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  5. Connect the PCM electrical connectors.
  6. Install the ACL outlet pipe and tighten the clamps.
  7. Connect the coolant hoses to the ACL outlet pipe.
  8. Remove the power steering fluid indicator. Position the power steering reservoir mounting bracket.
  9. Install the bolts and power steering fluid indicator.
  10. Install the power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
  11. Position the upper air deflector and install the 6 pushpin retainers.
No. 4 & 6 Glow Plugs
Specific to:
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the left exhaust manifold. For additional information, refer to the following section, -Exhaust Manifold, Removal & Installation.-
  4. Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
  5. Remove the glow plug.
To install:
  1. Install the glow plug and tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  2. Clean and apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals prior to installation.
  3. Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, install the glow plug harness.
  4. Install the left exhaust manifold.
No. 7 & 8 Glow Plugs
Specific to:
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Release the latches and remove the engine cover.
  4. Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
  5. Remove the glow plug.
To install:
  1. Install the glow plug and tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  2. Clean and apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals prior to installation.
  3. Using the Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer, install the glow plug harness.
  4. Install the engine cover.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
