How to Replace Parking brake on Ford?

Instructions are mentioned below:----


Separate parking brake shoes are only used on vehicles with rear disc brakes.

Adjustment



Adjustment is necessary only on vehicles equipped with rear disc brakes.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2. Remove the rubber plug from the parking brake adjuster access hole.
  3. Insert a suitable tool into the adjuster access hole and expand the parking brake adjuster while turning the wheel.
  4. Expand the parking brake shoe until resistance is felt while turning the wheel assembly.
  5. Back off the parking brake adjuster one turn.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Test the parking brake for proper operation.
  8. Pull up on the parking brake control and listen to the clicks from the pawl in the control assembly. Resistance should be felt after five clicks from the pawl.

The parking brake cable tension is automatically adjusted by a mechanism in the parking brake control assembly.

Removal & Installation



  1. Place the parking brake control in the released position.
  2. Remove the parking brake lever boot.
  3. Using a screwdriver, push down on the tension arm until it is fully depressed. Lock down the tension arm with the spring lock-out pin or a screwdriver.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  5. Remove the rear disc brake caliper and rotor.
  6. Disconnect the parking brake rear cable and conduit from the parking brake lever.
  7. Remove the brake shoe adjusting spring.
  8. Remove the upper return spring.
  9. Remove the brake shoe hold-down springs and pins.
  10. Remove the parking brake adjuster.
  11. Pull the parking brake lever out of the rear wheel disc brake adapter.
  12. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  13. Adjust the parking brake shoes and check for proper operation.
