How to Replace radiator on Ford Windstar?

The details to replace radiator are as follows :----

Removal & Installation instructions for radiator are mentioned below:----


  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  3. Disengage the grille opening panel pushpins.
  4. Label and disconnect cooling fan motor wiring harness.
  5. Position wiring harness out of the way and remove the cooling fan motor assembly.
  6. Disconnect the overflow hose and the upper and lower radiator hoses.
  7. Disconnect and plug the transaxle cooler lines at the radiator.
  8. Remove the headlamp mounting clips.
  9. Remove the turn signal lamp retaining nuts and position the turn signal and headlamp out of the way.

  10. Remove the grille opening panel bracket bolts (4 per side).
    NOTE
    Grille reinforcements are easily bent. Take extra care when removing the grille.
  11. Remove the radiator grille opening panel brackets.
  12. Remove the hood latch support mounting bolts and pull the support forward.
  13. Remove the radiator mounting bolts.

  14. Remove the grill opening reinforcement retaining screws (3 per side). Remove the radiator grille opening panel reinforcement from the vehicle.
  15. Remove the top condenser mounting screws. Lift up the A/C condenser core while pushing down on the radiator to disengage the clips on the bottom.
  16. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.

To install:
  1. Position the radiator in the vehicle.
  2. Position the A/C condenser.
  3. Install the top condenser mounting screws and tighten to 89-106 inch lbs. (10-12 Nm).
  4. Install the grill opening panel reinforcement screws and tighten securely.
  5. Install the radiator mounting bolts and tighten to 45-61 inch lbs. (5-7 Nm).
  6. Install the hood latch support. Tighten mounting bolts to 19-25 ft. lbs. (25-35 Nm).
  7. Install the radiator grille opening panel brackets and tighten screws securely.
  8. Install the turn signal and headlamp assembly. Tighten turn signal retaining screw to 45-61 inch lbs. (5-7 Nm). Install the headlamp mounting clips.
  9. Connect the transaxle cooler lines at the radiator.
  10. Connect the overflow hose and the upper and lower radiator hoses.
  11. Install the cooling fan motor assembly. Tighten bolts to 89-106 inch lbs. (10-12 Nm).
  12. Connect cooling fan motor wiring harness.
  13. Install the grille opening panel pushpins.
  14. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
  15. Connect the negative battery cable.
  16. Start the engine and check for leaks.
