Replace fuel tank on Ford E series?

The procedure to replace fuel tank is as follows : ----

Behind-the-Axle Fuel Tank



Specific to:
Ford E-150 2008-2009
Ford E-250 2008-2009
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Drain any remaining fuel from the tank.
  5. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  6. Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe and filler vent tube from the fuel tank.

  7. Position a suitable jack under the fuel tank.
  8. Remove the fuel tank support strap retaining bolts and nuts.
  9. Remove the fuel tank support straps.
  10. Partially lower the fuel tank.
  11. Disconnect the fuel tubes from the fuel pump.
  12. Disconnect the fuel pump and fuel tank sending unit electrical connector.
  13. Disconnect the hose(s) from the evaporative emission valve.
  14. Disconnect the fuel tank pressure sensor electrical connector.
  15. Lower and remove the fuel tank assembly.
  16. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
  17. Tighten the support strap retaining nuts to 56-75 ft. lbs. (77-103 Nm) and support strap bolts to 64-88 ft. lbs. (87-119 Nm).

Midship Tank Mounting



Specific to:
Ford E-150 2008-2009
Ford E-250 2008-2009
Ford E-350 Super Duty 2008-2009
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4. Drain any remaining fuel from the tank.
  5. Disconnect the fuel pump/fuel sender electrical connector.
  6. Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe hose.
  7. Disconnect the evaporative emissions (EVAP) tube connector, gasoline engines only.
  8. Position a suitable jack under the fuel tank.
  9. Remove the nut and the front fuel tank support strap.
  10. Remove the nut and the rear fuel tank support strap.
  11. Partially lower the fuel tank.
  12. Disconnect the fuel tube spring lock coupling. For additional information, refer to Section 310-00 .
  13. Disconnect the fuel tank vent tube connector., gasoline engines only.
  14. Lower the fuel tank.
  15. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
